If you have a blog, you already know the importance of driving traffic to your product, service, or affiliate programs, right?  What if you had a way to syndicate your blog posts across some of the most relevant assortment of Web 2.0 sites, where interested readers could get a taste of your sites content and then click on a link to go to the original post on your blog?  Well, now you can do this automatically!  Just released is a brand new plug-in called WPSyndicator, developed by Andy Fletcher.

WPSyndicator takes a small predetermined excerpt and anchor text of your blog post and posts it for you to 14 highly ranked popular Web 2.0 sites plus it will automatically tweet it to your Twitter account.  Along with the short excerpt and anchor text will be a direct link back to your original blog post for the viewer to read the rest of your post.  Pretty simple, isn’t it?  Not only do you get the direct traffic back to your original blog post but you get a very relevant and valuable backlink as well, if you use anchor text for the link.

You have the choice of length to set the excerpt to, with the default being 500 characters (about a paragraph or two).  The key is to give the reader just enough to tease them into clicking through to the rest of your blog post to peep the rest of the article. You can easily determine the length of your excerpt, depending on the content you are syndicating to the highly ranked Web 2.0 sites, so you’ll always be able to have just the right amount out there as a teaser.

Once you purchase the plugin from Andy Fletcher he offers lifetime updates to WPSyndicator, which makes it even more sweet.  He has already added a couple of updates that incorporated features from the feedback suggested by his original beta testers and pre-launch users.  In the latest update ahe dded the ability to syndicate your blogs pages as well as posts, auto-syndication capabilities and syndication rate limiting so you don’t overpost and get blacklisted and kicked off the Web 2.0 sites for spamming.

While this plug-in is very easy to install and activate similar to all other WordPress plugins. Configuring the settings will take an hour or so the first time you use it because you’ll have to susbscribe to all of the accounts for the various sites that your content gets syndicated on.  While this is an extremely easy process, Andy has included instructions right in the menu plus some helpful video tutorials to walk you step by step through many of the set up process. He even built in the the link shortener service bit.ly so your links are automatically shortened for the micro blogging sites like Twitter.

If you have an established blog, You will find one of the favorite features for many of the early users is the ability to syndicate your past posts.  Once the plugin is installed and set up, you will see the link that says “click here to syndicate” in your wysiwyg editor whenever you go to edit or create a new post. You can syndicate your old or new posts at the click of a button.

As with al automation tools you do need to be careful not to overdo it as you will look like a spammer.  Andy Fletcher suggests doing just a couple posts per day, conceivably one new and one old.
